Mitch Dobrowner Fine Art Photography

Ohhhhhh… Wow. Love. As I’ve mentioned before, my homework assignment is to compile images of pieces of art that speak to me. I saw a post today on NOTCOT featuring this artist. I can’t peel myself away from these images. I am mesmerized.

Maybe it’s because I grew up in Tornado Alley that I’m so drawn to these photographs. I was in a Tornado when I was a child. Seriously. IN. See here? There were 11 of us in the hallway. There’s no roof. Here’s what happened to my mom’s cute little perfectly restored red car. The miraculous thing was that none of us so much as got a splinter. I grew up having nightmares about Tornados. I can’t tell you how many times we were yanked out of bed in the middle of the night because the sirens were going off. We had to run down the street to our co-op tornado cellar. We spent hours down there (school nights = grumpy kids the next morning, I’m sure). Funny, I still remember that it was lined with green astro-turf.

However, I’m no longer terrified of bad weather. I’m quite intrigued by it, actually. When I was teaching science, I loved teaching the weather unit. I found the science behind weather systems fascinating. I find the beauty in this piece fascinating, as well. It’s a digital workflow captured as a latent image. It was taken in Texas. Love.

The picture really captured on how angry and heavy the clouds are. Really great!

Thanks,
