A Parisian Sasek postcard, © Editions Hazan

One of my absolute favorite gifts for a child are the “This is..” series of books by M. Sasek. I’m almost positive that if you are unfamiliar with the books you will still recognize his iconic style of illustration. They are the most wonderful children’s travel logs of key cities around the world. If you are a fan of mid century design, you will find the drawings and the writing style a sheer delight. Born in Prague in 1916, Sasek’s first book, “This is Paris”, was published in 1959. Other books include, “This is Rome”, “This is London”, “This is New York”, “This is Edinburgh” with at at least 13 more.

Thanks, Sarah! That background is actually Gina’s backyard! Lovely, lovely view. I have been so, so busy with Closet-ologie, but I have a lot of blog posts to catch up on. I will be reading yours later today while getting my hair colored. Can’t wait (to read the posts, not to get my hair colored)!
