Pantone Fashion Color Report: Spring 2011.

An Exotic Journey. These color combinations satisfy the consumer’s continued need to escape current, everyday challenges. We are transported to foreign lands. These colors are an unique mix of cool and warm tones that enable us to take our current Fall colors and add in the punchy colors of Spring. These colors bring something different to the mix and have been described as Flirtatious, Spicy, Sensual, Alluring, Fresh, Ethereal, and Dramatic. I’m inspired. Not only to start thinking about Spring Wardrobing, but to plan. Plan my exotic journey…

We just moved (down the street). With the move comes a new aesthetic. Out with the old; in with the new. Presently, my home is in a transitional phase and there IS no decoration. Half the furniture and accessories did not come with us and another 25% will go soon. We’re starting from scratch. One of the homework assignments the designer gave to me was to pour over books, magazines and the internet looking for pieces of art that speak to me.

Woman wheeling down Sunset Boulevard
at 34 mph in Beverly Hills on an afternoon
in the summer of 1990

This speaks to me. Andrew Bush created a collection of colored photographs entitled Vector Portraits (’89-’97). These portraits were taken by a camera that was attached to the passenger door as the artist drove the streets and freeways of Los Angeles. Particularly interesting are the titles, which include speed, location, and a brief observation as noted by the artist. This portfolio has been published in Drive by Andrew Bush.

I want to be wheeling down Sunset Boulevard at 34 mph in a cherry red car with cherry red lips and big sunglasses…
