My New Fave Christmas Gift

Posted by Gina
Monday, December 08, 2008

I have been spending many late nights surfing the web for the newest, greatest and latest in gift ideas for my very electronic savvy kids.  Even Santa can’t keep up with the wish lists of this new generation of techno kids.  But, Eureka!  I found it!  A gift that will impress my family! Actually, I wouldn’t mind it if Santa put one in my stocking, right next to the Hermes “Collier de Chien” cuff that is at the very top of my Christmas list, but I digress.

It’s the Polaroid PoGo Instant Mobile Printer.
(retails for around $99)

Polaroid Pogo Instant Mobile Printer

It’s sleek and stylish and easy to use.  Send pictures from your compatible digital camera or, wirelessly from your Bluetooth enables camera cell phone.
It’s fast and fun and prints 2”X3” borderless, sticky- backed photos instantly.
How cool is that?

P.S.  Santa, if you happen to be reading this blog, I would love the cuff in black with gold.  And, as if you didn’t already know, I’ve been a very good girl.

THIS is adorable. Gina is designing jewelry again. She just launched her new site (Charmed Circle: see the sidebar). I love anything with birds and had to have this. So, I placed my order and helped myself. Can be worn on a charm bracelet or as a pendant; I will wear it long on a chain. Love it; the little bird has crystal eyes and even moves. Click on the pic to take a look.

Black Friday is approaching

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope each and every one of you are relishing in time spent with your family and friends. Where I am, lots of aunts and uncles to catch up with (Missing some very integral parts of the family this year: Sweet Baby James, especially. We’ll catch up next year!). My dad is dragging out every random piece of relic he has (blasts from the past are kept in every nook and cranny of his closet and attic; drives my mom crazy). All day, he has been wearing the madras jacket given to him by his High School girlfriend 40 years ago (I’m surprised that he is not wearing his Fraternity pin, as well). Colorful conversation abounds, always. And the food: my uncle makes a to-die-for Thanksgiving spread. I love my morning runs along the Oak Tree-lined streets in this historical district. I especially took the time to run this morning after a dear aunt lovingly complimented me by telling me my face had ‘filled out’ a bit (If you are reading this JoJo, I love you! I seriously took that as a compliment). The weather is crisp; we have spent most of the day playing and visiting outside. Every once in awhile, we are treated to sounds of the beautiful bells the church down the street offers to those of us lucky enough to be in earshot. On the porch, we could gaze over my mother’s adorably landscaped yard and enjoy a view of this majorly torn up street.

I’m following up that ugly street scene with the view of the beautiful church that we can see from mom’s living room. This is the church that gifts us with the lovely bells.

I have hardly given a thought to perusing the sites. However, Black Friday IS hovering, so I guess I have given it a little thought. I happen to be spending Thanksgiving in a small-ish North Texas town. There MAY be one or two boutiques that will be cute to visit, but that’s about it. So, for me, Black Friday means enjoying the deals via my mom’s slower than molasses internet connection. It goes without saying, the most important use of my time right now is enjoying family. But, tonight, after the kids are in bed, I’ll pop on the computer to check out the deals. Of course, I will try to remain focused. Christmas gifts for others and a Cocktail Dress for Husband’s Christmas party are at the top of my list. I’ll see what I can come up with.

For those of you that, like me, are relegated to shop on-line for Black Friday, maybe this will help. Here are some of our favorite on-line haunts with their existing Promo Codes.

NYC Sample Sales

Posted by Gina
Wednesday, November 19, 2008

One of the best perks of working in fashion in NYC was sneaking in a sample sale during my lunch break.  Most fashion labels, designer or otherwise, will unload their showroom samples or extra inventory by selling them to the public. Schedules and locations are random but I would usually get tips from others in the garment biz.  It’s the fashion equivalent of inside trading.

Well, I no longer live that life but I still subscribe to various sample sale lists just in case!  And now, I’m passing this information on to you.

For those of you who are lucky enough to live in the Big Apple (or if you happen to visit during the holidays), enjoy!  I will shop vicariously thru you.  Please post comments if you get to go!

The following sample sales are held at:
SSS Sample Sales
261 W 36th
(bet 7th & 8th Ave)
NY, NY 10018

The sale is all current Fall merchandise and the prices are below wholesale!
